I first saw one of these in a university class.My professor used it to keep the pages of his book held down so he didn't have to keep flipping back to that page, nor did he have to walk around holding the book open to the page he kept referencing.Impressed with his, I sought out one for myself and purchased this brown, faux crocodile book weight.I am a literary scholar (in the making) working on my MA right now and do an exuberant amount of reading.New paperbacks don't like to stretch their pages or stay open of their own accord, and this tool makes reading easier by holding the pages for me as I switch from research, to book, to Internet, to book, and back to research without having to wrestle with keeping my books open to the pages I am working with.It has also been valuable for outdoor reading.I enjoy being outside, but pages are like feathers and take flight with the wind.The book weight keeps them down and out of my way without fuss so only the words hold my attention.

This product has been an invaluable part of my cache of scholarly tools.I keep it as handy as a pen and notebook for my thoughts.The size is ideal for standard sized books and works for larger ones as well; although for large books with hair-fine pages, it's a bit small for windy days, as every gust sends all four corners wagging and this weight can only cover so much space.Yet, it has worked for me through my undergrad and into my grad with class.I have had it for nearly 4 years and it is in top notch condition.No breaking or splitting of leather, stitching is still tight, and the only wear is a looser neck shank from me shaking it like a billy club.The edges do not rub off or leave marks on pages.I love it so much, I am finally getting a second.This product makes a perfect gift for book lovers that will use and appreciate it for years and years.I HIGHLY recommend this product.
